"Tonic,
a Navicular horse is sound on EquiPride!"
By Denise Bryant
My 12 year old gelding Tonic, is a large ¼ Arabian and ¾ Running
Quarter Horse. He was diagnosed with Navicular at age five. Since
that time I’ve had to juggle when I could ride him due to his increasing
lameness.
Last year another vet recommended corrective shoeing and joint supplements.
I tried these remedies without success as Tonic continued to come
up lame. When trail riding, he needed 3 grams of phenylbutazone in
the morning and the same in the evening (Tonic hates “bute” and it
caused him to colic).
The last resort of a neurectomy was out of the question. So at my
wits end, I was walking the grounds of the Equine Affaire in Pomona,
CA (February 2004) and came across SweetPro Feed’s EquiPride™ Feed
Supplement. Impressed with the ingredients in EquiPride™ (the vitamins
and minerals, aiding of digestion and replacement of psyllium for
sand colic were highlights) I decided to try some but really didn’t
think it would help Tonic’s navicular condition. But to my amazement,
since starting on EquiPride™ Tonic has not had one lame day!
In June of 2004 I took him on a 6 day trail ride in the San Bernardino
Mountains over rugged terrain and he was sound the whole time (each
day averaged five hours of riding). In addition, Tonic is much calmer
since being on EquiPride™. He used to be hot and had no patience
on the trail but now people compliment me on how calm and collected
he is. I have done nothing different but feed Tonic EquiPride™ while
dropping all other supplements. This is a miracle for me and I couldn’t
be happier.
